Akwaaba Week, organized by the SRC, welcomes and orients first-year students into university life. It encourages freshmen to be purpose-driven, actively participate in SRC activities, and seize opportunities. The event fosters connections between junior and senior members, promotes networking, and develops essential life skills. Through a mix of education and entertainment, Akwaaba Week reinforces the importance of balancing academics and personal growth for a well-rounded university experience.
Students are encouraged to participate in Akwaaba Week activities, as they showcase key aspects of university life. The event fosters joy, bonding, and lifelong friendships while creating valuable networks and inspiration for the journey ahead.
This year’s freshers week celebration was given a title, “KARIBU”, a Swahili word that means “WELCOME”. Karibu Week Celebration commenced on 19th February 2025 and ended on 22nd February 2025.Below are the activities that were held;
Day 1:The Freshers’ Summit, themed “EMPOWERING MINDS AND NUTURING FUTURES: SETTING THE FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS,” introduced new students to campus life, academic expectations, and opportunities, followed by a Q&A session. In the evening, the solemn Candle Night honored lost souls, transitioning into the high-energy Jama Night, filled with chants, drumming, and celebrations.
Day 2: The Inter-School Soccer Competition followed where various schools competed,with ENSA emerging victorious. The evening’s Basketball Night showcased intense matches and brand displays, creating an electric atmosphere.
Day 3: The day began with Health Screening and a Sanitation Drive, emphasizing student well-being and campus cleanliness. The evening’s Party on the Block brought music, dancing, and social bonding.
Day 4: Students engaged in Aerobics, promoting fitness and wellness. The grand finale, Artiste Night, featured a thrilling live performance by O’Kenneth, leaving students with unforgettable memories.
